The mission of the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland is to
imbue all students with a love of G-d, Torah and
Eretz Yisroel and to prepare them to achieve
excellence in Torah and general knowledge based
on successful cooperation among family, Judaic and
general studies faculty and community.
Historical Background
A
pioneer in day school education, the Hebrew Academy of
Cleveland is one of the nation's premier communal day
schools. Founded in 1943 by spiritual and lay
leaders, some of whom escaped the ashes of the Holocaust, the
Academy has educated almost 6,000 students. Its
graduates have assumed leadership positions- in
virtually all walks of life - across the globe.
The Academy is a nationally acclaimed educational
institution and was recognized by Torah Umesorah/
National Society for Hebrew Day Schools in 1987 and by
the Jewish Community Federation with the Charles Eiseman
Award in 1992.The Academy was recognized nationally by
Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education (PEJE)
when it identified the Academy’s Project Impact as one
of this nation’s most noteworthy practices in Jewish education.
In 2006 the Academy was awarded the State of Ohio’s Stellar Award
and in 2007 the Academy was the recipient of the State of Ohio’s
Asset Builder Award.
The
Academy Today
Charted by the state of Ohio, the Academy provides an
intensive Judaic and secular studies curriculum from
early childhood through high school. The Academy's
comprehensive curriculum is designed to meet the various
needs of the student body and has set national
standards. The focus of our award-winning faculty
is not limited to teaching the curriculum; rather to
teaching the child. Character development,
community service, intergenerational and enrichment
programs are indispensable components of the Academy
experience. They reinforce the school's mission
and serve to ignite the the minds and inspire the hearts
of our youth.
